By Blood and By Mean, I Fall When You Leave: A Lykke Li Primer.
This week there was a debate on my dashboard on whether or not one would pronounce Lykke Li’s name as Lick-ee Li which is mostly correct. Anyway, this prompted a couple of us to watch a lot of her videos and besides her amazing voice, she has such an interesting personality. The songs on her debut are mostly what she thought of as more cute than mastered and her second album definitely illustrates the maturity she wanted. It’s completely possible to prefer one over the other since they are so musically different but both are worth your time.
Youth Novels (2008):
Dance, Dance, Dance
Let It Fall
My Love
Complaint Department
Breaking It Up

Wounded Rhymes (2011):
Youth Knows No Pain
I Follow Rivers
Unrequited Love
I Know Places
Jerome

Bonus/Remixes/Covers:
Get Some (Beck Remix)
Knocked Up (Death to The Throne Remix)
Dance, Dance, Dance (Lykke Li and Bon Iver)
Until We Bleed - Kleerup ft. Lykke Li
Possibility
Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
Leaving You Behind - Amanda Blank ft. Lykke Li*
Zdarlight Department (Lykke Li v. Digitalism)

* the Amanda Blank track is the only one that doesn’t feature her but it’s a really great track anyway so I recommend it
